Asmirai's CEO conducted AI-powered broadlistening during the Yatsushiro City (Kumamoto Prefecture) mayoral election as part of Democracy-X activities.
Working in collaboration with Mayor Taizou Ono of Yatsushiro, we collected and visualized citizens' voices using broadlistening technology, delivering insights in a format directly usable for policy formulation.
What is Broadlistening?
Broadlistening is an initiative that broadly collects and visualizes diverse citizens' voices to inform decision-making. Leveraging AI, it efficiently analyzes the vast volume of opinions that traditional methods could never capture, providing actionable insights.
Conventional surveys and public hearings can only gather input from a limited number of people, and manual analysis is time-consuming and costly. With AI-powered broadlistening, far more citizens' voices can be efficiently collected, analyzed, and visualized in a form ready for policy use.
Technology: Kōchō AI (Civic Voice AI)
For this project in Yatsushiro, we used "Kōchō AI" — developed by the Digital Democracy 2030 community.
Kōchō AI is based on "Talk to the City" by the US AI Objectives Institute, enhanced for Japanese local governments and politicians, and is available as open source on GitHub.

By leveraging AI to efficiently collect and analyze citizen voices that were previously impossible to capture at scale, we contributed to building a transparent, data-driven mechanism for citizen voices to be reflected in policy.
